Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Sep 06, 2001 4:31 pm

After being diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma - metastatic to the Cervical Lymph node - stage 4 with no primary - is it standard practice to initate radiation therapy instantly ??with no other real "work-up" No blood tests, cat scan found lymph - surgically removed found SCC - 5 Scopes/Lung wash etc... biopsies and removal of "spots" in mouth - both sides in back by molars - cat scan of "lymph system" showed neagtive. No Oncologist seen. Radiation Oncologist - not very impressive.

I would like to know if there are any "home remadies" or prescription drugs to help, ease, and/or cure the "Dry Mouth" syndrome you get when you are receiving radiation of the head and neck - which kills the Salivary glands. The "doctors" are not giving up information to easily and anything they do they say they don't like or it won't help etc.. Also, a far stretch but is there a Salivary gland replacement surgery/bypass - anything that can be done to save or even salvage these glands.
