pre-melanoma

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Mar 26, 2002 1:07 am

I have a strong family history of Melanoma...I just had another group (8) moles removed. The diagnosis: two are Compound Melanocytic Nevus (one..no significant atypia present and the other is Dysplastic Compound Melanocytic Nevus. What is the difference between the two? Which is pre-melanoma or are all three? How concerned should I be at this time? Thank you for your respone.

Dysplasia means that there is significant amount of atypia present. I would consider that to be pre-melanoma. You need to keep a close eye on any other lesions which you have present. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
