I'm newly diagnosed with a malignant melanoma. I was told to have "mapping" done. Who does that?

"Mapping" refers to the use sentinel lymphadenectomy. In short this is where
radioactive tracer is injected into the lymph system around the tumor and is
subsequently taken up by draining lymph nodes for that region. These lymph
nodes are identified and removed. It is standard procedure in the work-up
high risk melanoma patients and is performed by the surgeon. Thank you for
using oncologychannel and good luck.
