melanoma of the colon

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Jun 18, 2002 10:44 pm

I have a friend who is 58 years old who was first diagnosed with stage III melanoma of the colon 4 years ago. The tumor was removed (bowel resection) and she recieved Interferon injections for one year. There was never a visible lesion on her skin. Last month her physician found a metastatic lesion in her chest cavity (on a routine radioactive scan). The lesion was removed, but the melanoma involved the margins. It did not involve any lymph nodes or the lung. Follow-up scan was completely negative. Since the cancer returned three years after finishing the Interferon, what would be the treatment of choice?

Thank you for your opinion.
