Melanoma in the Colon

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Nov 30, 2001 12:35 pm

My mom was diagnosed with melanoma in her colon very near to the rectal opening. Her doctors say there is no other option than to remove the entire area including the rectum which means she will have to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. Do you know of any options she may have that will allow her to maintain regular colon function eventually? Thank you for your time. Her surgery is scheduled for Monday, December 3rd so if I could get a reply ASAP that would be wonderful!

Unfortunately there are no options available for her other then the proposed surgery. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
