Hot flashes after Hormone intervention???

Post a new topicby Red Doug on Tue Jul 21, 2009 9:10 pm

I received a 6 month shot of Eligard 3 months ago. I am now into major menopause hot flashes, sweats, mini-flu like systems that last for about 3- 6 minutes. But they come like 3- 5 per hour and at night wake me up and make my days miserable. Is there any way to treat hot flashes?

I am going to be on this stuff for 2 years!!! I hope the hot flashes soon go away.

Are we having fun yet?

I have a friend on Lupron and he reports the same, only he also says he cries and has temper tantroms too. Sounds like hell, maybe new data will come out that says to cut the drug short, he says he's seen three doctors, and they all say to stay on the drug a different amount of time, 3 months, 6 months, 4 years...

No remedy that I've heard of. :/

Guess this won't help you, Red Doug, but maybe someone else...

I know a guy taking Zoladex, he doesn't have any side effects. He's had three shots over a period of a couple years, he's finished now.

I am being treated by 3 monthly injections of Zoladex ( another hormone )
Hot flushes can be counteracted on this by taking 100mg tablets of Casodex, one per day for two weeks. Results are fairly long term relief.
There are other ways and I'm sure your GP or Oncologist will have a solution.
