40-50 with PC - which option?

Post a new topicby david_hg on Mon Aug 24, 2009 10:17 am

It seems like the prevailing recommendation is for RP rather than radiation or any other method for that matter. Basically remove the thing and be done with the cancer risk. My real concern comes around the effects and the risks associated with the surgery. First, no longer able to ejaculate, risk of ED and of course incontinence.
I am wondering if there are others that chose the surgery and what have been the long term effects?

Yes, "remove the thing and be" possibly "done with it". 35% rate of recurrance. 50+% rate of incontinence. Radiation can cause another cancer in 10 years, so they shy away from that for guys under 65 years.

remove it using ultrasound so no nerves are in danger of being cut....read my thread "anyone here have HIFU?"

best of luck
