My father prostate cancer as also returned, invading his bones. regarding treatment i would choice a treatment that he could still live a productive life. That he is able to function in his everyday life. If his cancer is very advance, I would focus on making sure that he has the lease pain as possible and spend the best moments he can with his love ones' and doing what is like . (Like my father he love to fish) Do everything that you have to for his illness, but don't let the illness define who he is or what he can do. Stay hopeful and god bless your father-inlaw and all your family.
