standard time between ovarian cancer surgery and start of chWe are having trouble getting an appt. for second opinion for chemo treatments, IP and IV.
First appt. we can get will be 9 weeks after debulking surgery; then we would have to wait for chemo appt.....does it really have to be started 6 weeks after surgery? We are very concerned about the time lag.
Re: standard time between ovarian cancer surgery and start of chIf you explained to them your problem and they are willing to wait 9 weeks then they seem to think it is okay. It probable is,(in my experience the 6 week mark is because it takes that long for your surgical incisions to heal, any sooner and you would not get adequate healing) but why don't you call your current doctor and ask the question, also make sure that the second opinion phone answerer(nurse/receptionist) knows your problem and your concern and has checked with their doctor to make sure this delay will not pose a problem, good luck
Re: standard time between ovarian cancer surgery and start of chI developed a mutated staph infection at the hospital after my debulking surgery. It took several weeks longer for my wound to heal.... Thus it was a bit longer before I started my chemo. I received both IV and IP chemo... I've been cancer free for the past 18 months.. God bless and good luck.
