SCARED--ADVICE PLEASE

Post a new topicby CourtneyMichele on Sat Dec 05, 2009 8:26 pm

I am a healthy 26 year old, with no major health problem.
Last night, out of nowhere, I had a very sharp pain on the left side of my lower abdomen, it quickly moved across my entire lower abdomen and the pain became unbearable. Went to the ER, urinalysis was positive for infection and had traces of blood. I do have a history of kidney, blader and urinary track pronlems, so I thought it was another stone I was trying to pass; however, the CT did not show any stones. The results were a 4cm thick-walled, complex cyst in the left adnexa, along with large amounts of free fluid in my abdomen. I do have family history of endometriosis but no cancer that I am aware of.
This has me worried because of the recent changes in my mentral cycle. In the past my cycle has been regular, every 29 days, lasting for 5 to 6 days. For about 5 months now, not only is it irregular but I am now spotting in between every period. This is not the only change going on; I have also gained 25 lbs. without any diet changes. I was thinking it was hormonal, so I had my hormones and thyroid checked and everything was normal. I am not on birth control or any other medication that would cause such drastic changes.
What are the chances of everything being connected and possible ovarian cancer??
If anyone has any similar situations, PLEASE share!

Thanks- Courtney
