Ovarian Cancer - Tumour that won't go away

Post a new topicby Pittster on Tue Oct 07, 2008 11:25 am

I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Dec. 2005 with Stage IIIC clear cell tumour. I have been on chemotherapy for most of the past three years with my tumour being stable for only 9 months. As of October 2008 I just finished 6 cycles of Doxurubicin. My oncologist tells me they are running out of drugs to give me and I was wondering if anyone out there has had a similar situation and what course of therapy did they follow. My tumour never shrunk with any of the chemotherapy drugs given to me, the only thing it did was keep my tumour from growing in some cases. I had carbo-taxol, carbo-gemzar, topotecan, carbo-doxurubicin. They want to give me oral etoposide and tamoxifen next. I am also taking Sunrecome (herbal supplement for immune system- Reishi Mushroom extract) The Sunrecome really helps me get thru all my chemotherapy They told me they were unable to do Radiation so that was never an option and another surgery is risky because my tumour is near my bowel and quite large. I did have a total hysterectomy and debulking at the initial diagnosis. Any suggestions on a course of action at this time would be appreciated. I am considering not having any more chemotherapy. My CA 125 is 50-60. Has anyone out there had a tumour that did not go away or was stable for a really long time. My general health is not bad considering the amount of chemotherapy I have had. My appetite is good, my weight has remained the same and I can walk 20 minutes to 30 minutes most every day and do light housework. Any comments or information would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
a clear cell cancer warrior
