Peripheral Neuropathy - Lyrica (Pregablin)

Post a new topicby newmania on Thu Jun 26, 2008 2:14 am

I'm 47 yrs old, stage III follicular lymphoma patient, completing my 3rd round of RCVP (Rituxan, Cytoxan, Vincristine and Prednisone) treatment. My peripheral neuropathy drives me pretty nuts (evidently relatively common side-effect of Vincristine) and my wife did some research on a drug, Lyrica, for use to reduce the neuropathy My oncologist had never prescribed Lyrica before (usually prescribes Neurontin) but agreed it might be a good choice. I started my first dose of Lyrica tonight, and will eventually work up to 4/day. Does anyone have any experience with this drug in treatment for their neuropathy?

I came down with Mantel Cell lymphoma about 2.5 years ago. Originally my feet were very cold and numb and at the same time painful

when I walked. I also sometimes had difficulty keeping my balance when walking. My hands were less effected.I was perscribed Lyrica. It graetly eased my pain when walking but made me feel dizzy and confused. I almost got lost the first evening walking near my house!
These drugs effect people differently. I hope it works better for you. They are also other drugs that may ease symptoms but in my case nothing worked and I had to learn to live with it.

Wishing you good luck!
