mother-in-law recently diagnosed with NHL

Post a new topicby dj1815 on Thu Dec 27, 2007 1:42 am

My mother in law has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 NHL. She found a lump in her neck and after the biopsy and scans, it was found to also be in her abdomen and about 5% in her bone marrow. Next week she will be getting the PET scan. She is 60 years old and in fairly good health. Can anyone give us any insight as to what to expect. We are very scared since it was detected in her bone marrow. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you... Dee

hello Dee I'm sorry to read about your mother-in-law and I know you must be very worried. I hope I can give you some comfort with my very successful treatment of NHL. I'm 62 years old. I was diagnosed in May 2007 with stage111 I had it in my breast lung and liver. R-Chop was given every 14 days rather then the usual one of 21 days as it was high-grade aggressive B-cell Lymphoma. Treatment wasn't that bad of course the common ones of hair loss (broke my heart) and awful fatigue, and the huge appetite ;-) thanks to prednisolne steroid. Please remember we are all different and side effects do vary. I had a CT scan after my 4th chemo and 90% of tumours had gone and when I had a Pet scan after my 6th dose of chemo I was clear of all signs of NHL in September. I only needed six courses of
R-Chop as it worked so well. Retuximab is a wonderful marriage with Chop. I am being closely watched every 3 months now. I had great faith in God and prayed harder then I have ever prayed to the Holy Family , a wonderful supportive loving family of my own and my team of Doctors and nurses were just fabulous. Please remember to give her a hug-a-day you sound a caring girl so I'm sure you will. All the Best and God bless. Scarlet x
