Indolent NHL

Post a new topicby suemcl on Mon Feb 11, 2008 11:06 am

I'm new here, so I'll provide some background. I am a 58 yr.old female, who was diagnosed with indolent NHL, stage III or IV B cell NHL. (Stage III or IV because there is an assumption that it is in my bone marrow, but we haven't done a bone marrow biopsy). I was diagnosed in Feb. 05 and after finding a lump in my neck. I actually had lumps under my arms for two years prior, but my GP told me as long as they move (which they could be), they wouldn't be cancer--WRONG! The biopsy of lump in my neck confirmed it was NHL, and after a second opinion I was told it was slow growing and they put me on watchful waiting. Well, that didn't work for me. What do mean I have cancer and you want me to sit around and wait!!!! One doctor referred to it as watch and worry. Doing nothing led me to panic/anxiety attacks, so we started chemo with Rituxan. I'm always fatigued, definitey have "chemo brain" (forgetfulness, confusion, etc.). Other than that up until recently I was symptom-free (no itching, major weight loss, night sweats, etc.). However, recently and intermittently I have experienced night sweats (profuse perspiring--not hot flashes which I am accustomed to).

I'm wondering if anyone knows how often you have to have night sweats in order for it to be considered a symptom? I don't see my oncologist for another 3 months, but am considering calling her and letting her know, but I don't know if I've jumping the gun. Anyone on this post who has night sweats, please let me know how often is consideration for concern. thanks

I was diagnosed with an indolent Non-Hodgkins lymphoma B-cell about 5 years ago and underwent Rituxin treatments but don't remember many night sweats at all. Did you see your doctor, finally? What did he/she say? My advice: don't wait around when you have a question about your health.

Right now, I have skin lesions on my back and under my arm and will need to start Rituxin treatments again this Fall. I don't have night sweats but I am exhausted all the time. Are you tired as well? Is being tired a symptom?

Hope so much you are feeling better. Take care of yourself.
