squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck

Post a new topicby helen+carl on Tue Jun 03, 2008 10:14 pm

My husband has stage3high squamous cell carcinoma , of head and neck.
3tumers in his lymph glands of his neck,2 in his shoulder blade, and 1on base of his tongue, 1 on his tonsil, 1 on his asopahagis and1 very close to his voice box.
all are inoperable secondary tumors, primary cannot be found.
He was offered chemo with radium treatment as palliative.
He has decided not to have treatment, because of terrible side affects.
with treatment he MAY get 6 months, without treatment 3 months.
He is into the 7th. week and only signs are swollen neck and failing eye sight.
He is in no pain at all .
He is 67yrs. old
Could the prognosis told to us be wrong. Can anyone tell us when he will begin to have serious signs.
Has anyone else been in our situation.
Best of Luck and love to all other sufferers
Helen
