carcinoid tumor

I may have a marble-sized carcinoid in my middle lobe. Dr. plans to remove whole lobe. can't just small tumor be sectioned leave lobe? He is not using VATS. I'm concerned about difference in tecnique.

In general a lobectomy is performed as a minimal operation as the standard of care. Most individuals with adequate lungs tolerate removal of a lobe with no ill effects; if the lung reserve is to little then a wedge resection would be considered. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
