we just found out my father is in 4th stage of cancer. this was diagnosed less than a week ago. we were told 2 days ago that he is given 7-10 months to live. we are trying to cope with this decision of no treatment. we can’t stop crying just thinking about the pain he will be going thru. we lost our mother in 1990. it will be so hard when we lose him. in april, he had a chest xray and nothing showed up. first of october, he had a ct scan and found very large masses on both lungs. ...Read the full article

I am so sorry to hear about your father's illness. It is heart wrenching I know. Why do the ones we love so much have to suffer? My mother was diagnosed with squamos cell carcinoma (which is a form of skin cancer) in January, 2007. In May, it had spread into her lungs and her oncologist told me that she had 6 months left to live. She too is in stage 4. Well, it is almost November. My mother has endured Taxol and fortunately it has shrunk her tumors but the side effects are strong. I take it day by day. My advice to you is to make your dad as comfortable as possible. Who's idea was it that he would not be treated? Take him to a nutritionist. Are you near a cancer treatment facility? If so, take him there for a second opinion. I did and the board certified oncologist there did tell me that her treatment was working, but he was also able to give us alot of insight on other matters regarding the cancer. They were also the kindest people I have ever met. Please let me know how it goes with your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
