My husband was diagnosed last Oct. 2005 with stage 1V lung cancer, got some on the other lung
and lymph nodes. He went through chemotheraphy and radiation- luckily the drugs worked for
him. From the size of 10.5 up to this day , the tumor is 0.5 and is not feeding anymore with the
glucose that they give him before petscan. The latest petscan was last may and he will have one
again this Oct. The other lung is clear and cancer in lymp nodes -gone. It was a miracle, I believed
so. The doctor advised him upfront to get his house in order but he is strong willed that he answered back saying he can beat this and do not believe in statistics. As far as I know, anyone who
had done chemo will lose their appetite and lose weight. He was the other way around. He gain a lot of weight after the treatments. We are thinking it is the steroids that the doctor used on him so he won't feel sick during those difficult times. Any comment will be appreciated.
His doctor recommended he lose weight and they will try to do VATS. Losing weight is a challenge
though. Anyway, good luck to you and your family. I feel for you. It can be very very difficult.
By the way, we are lucky that we live in hk (but we are americans) the health system here has been of great help or we coull have gone broke. He combined the private and public assistance for all his treatment.
