Hello. I am so sorry to hear about your father. I lost my dad in January 2002 to lung cancer and copd. Now my mom is going through this with lung cancer. She had a right lower lobectomy in December of 2006 and we were told that they had gotten it all. In May she started having a sore throat and it ended up being a huge mass. We found out that it was a metastatic tumor from the lung. She has started radiation and had one dose of chemo. She gets another dose of chemo tommorrow. Radiation treatments are every day, five days a week and chemo is one day a week for 6 weeks and skip two weeks and then another 6 weeks. She had to have a feeding tube because she cannot swallow food anymore. They put a port in last Fri. for her chemo. She has been admitted to the hospital for 4 days with dehydration and UTI so far. She is very weak and has no quality of life at this moment. She moved in with me before her treatment started because she was already weak. I am a nurse and I do the best I can for her, but it is so hard seeing her go throught this. My mom is my best friend. I cannot imagine my life without her.
