What to expect as CLL progresses

Post a new topicby jmcpb on Sat Jan 03, 2009 9:50 am

I'm hoping people can share experiences they've had as CLL progresses.

Back last February I was dianosed with CLL, stage II, bordering III. As the story went, I was at a dental cleaning when the hygeinist asked me about lumps in the jaw and neck and suggested I see my doctor. I did and got a referral to a specialist who has been seeing me under "watchful wait" treatment.

Most days I feel just fine. Bad days occur when I get colds and my lymph nodes swell to almond or larger size and become quite visible. In my work history I've averaged less than a day per year sick. Last year I missed 4 days in a row and don't know what's in store for the coming years.

I'm attempting to prepare as the disease progresses. My doctor tells me to continue enjoying a normal healthy life and not to worry about any special precautions. I have total faith in my doctor and do enjoy a normal life at the moment.

Thanks,

JMCPB

I would also like to know what to expect. I was diagnosed in 2005, Stage O, B cell. WBC 31,000 and it is now 50,000, still stage O. No other symptoms as enlarged spleen, lymph nodes, etc. I was told it may never come to any treatment for several years.
