Hello. I'm a 49 year old female with symptoms that concern me. I have Celiac, Hypothyroidism and Epstein-Barr virus, but I eat very healthy, take very good supplements and used to work out consistently until horrible fatigue set in last fall. In December my doc commented that I had an enlarged spleen and he also suspected I had adrenal fatigue, prescribing hydrocortisone for that. The med greatly increased my energy, but I couldn't sleep. In January I discontinued the med but have not been able to sleep without waking multiple times in the night since. That's now almost 5 months without a decent night's sleep! Around the first of the year, I began to have itching on my legs, mostly the shins. I didn't pay much attention to it at first, but it began to get worse and now I have annoying itching all over my body with no signs of dry skin. In early March I developed a fever and body aches with no other symptoms. Four days after the fever began, I started having sinus/allergy trouble, which I haven't had in over 15 years. That developed into a sinus infection and a staph infection in my nose. This entire episode lasted three weeks, with fever occuring nightly, along with the continuing insomnia and itching. Over the course of those 3 weeks I lost 10 pounds off my small body frame, and have not gained any of it back in over one month. Last week, I noticed more intense itching just after breakfast and discovered I was covered from neck to feet in small red dots, about the size of a pencil eraser. Some of them itched and others did not. I took a benadryl and they faded over the next four days. Now I'm beginning to have mild night sweats, which at my age could be hormonal. I saw a new doctor (change in insurance required it) and a blood test showed a normal TSH and a high B12 level. The nurse said nothing else was checked. I'm awaiting results of a chest x-ray and an echocardiogram she also ordered because of my complaint of fatigue and breathlessness on excertion. I'm puzzled about high B12 levels because Celiacs don't absorb well and I don't take additional B12 in any form. An internet search has made me suspect leukemia. Am I barking up the wrong tree? I don't want to ask my doctor to test for it unnecessarily. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR SOME IMPUT SOON. Thanks.
