Looking for some reassurance

Post a new topicby w'sdad on Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:21 am

After almost 4 years in treatment for ALL, my son who just turned 7, went in for his last Vincristine treament last week. His ANC was 150. It had been stayimg in the 3 - 4000 range for about the past year. After having to start and stop treatment repeatly for low counts for 3 of the 4 years we thought things had leveled off.
Now with 10 days left to go in his treatment things seem to be getting a little scary. Got rechecked yesterday and his ANC was up to 300. He has been off everything but Dapsone for a week and his Doc said, "I guess we're done".

I guess I was expecting a cleaner more upbeat end to this part of the journey. Has anyone seen this before, or is there something I need to be aware of?
Or am I just worrying because he will no longer be under the protective influenc of the drugs he's been on.

Looking for some reassurance,
