Leukemia

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Feb 16, 2002 6:04 pm

My mom was just diagnosed with leukemia (within the last week)based on her elevated white blood cells. She was diagnosed with mylofibrosis a year ago. She is 72 years old and diabetic. The doctor took a bone marrow sample yesterday and told me it will be about three weeks before we learn the results. He prescribed hydroxyurea immediately. I am assuming that we will not know the stage or type until the results of the bone marrow test. Her white blood count is in excess of 90,000. Can you tell me what I might have to expect given this limited amount of data I have provided you with?
