renal cell and brain tumor

Post a new topicby mikeoconnor on Fri Apr 18, 2008 1:12 pm

On March 22 my Mom 52 years old had a bad headache and a brain tumor 1inch in diameter was found. A mri was done that revealed a mass on her right kidney, adrenal gland, multiple spots on the lung, liver, and the brain tumor. The brain tumor was removed Marched 26th and pathology reported back that it was renal cell cancer. Since the tumor removal she has had 1/3 of her skull removed because of swelling of the brain and on April 9th she had the skull put back on. She just moved to the rehab floor and is doing well. The doctors have not told us yet but from reading the posts it looks like stage 4. She still has full kidney function and has had no blood in her urine. If anyone would like to give me some advice or hope I would Appreciate it. MPO

You and your Mum are very brave. I had kidney cancer and god willing am free of it. I did not have a secondary.
Therefore I cannot comment only to say that had I had a secondary I would have been proud to have you by my side. Secondaries are beyond my scope of knowledge but I can tell you that the will to live is very strong. Remind yourself and your Mum that you love her. If I had died, I would want to have known that my kids loved me. I would go more happily knowing that. If she survives as I did, it will give her a reason to march on. But do not stop the attention if she gets better. Every day, treat her as the woman who deserves to be applauded - even hen the chips are down for you. No matter what - love her and tell her everday.
