renal cell ca / embolization

Post a new topicby mariesuzanne on Thu Mar 06, 2008 5:18 am

because of my age (76) and my physical condition ,medical problem's, etc. i was nct a candidate for surgery to remove the 12.3 cm tumor engulfing my right kidney and since i began to bleed badly for the third time in 2 month's, i was advised to have an embolization. it was done 11/16/07 and i've had no treatment or medicine or anything since then and only after my son demanded it did the dr. order a ct scan and that was 2 and a half week's ago and though we've called , the dr. hasn't bothered to call back. my son got the written part of the ct scan report and it say's worrisome 3 times which can't be good but did i lose valuable time when nothing has been done for these last 90 plus day's or is there nothing to have been done at all and what happen's now? i realized i'm probably going to be making my exit sometime soon from what they told me but is there no medicine or therapy or anything that could/would help me with the journey i do have left? i have insurance and i'm pretty well off so couldn't i be doing something? thank's

No advice here, but my thoughts and prayers are with you. I am waiting on results myself, and at the same time going to college to enter the medical field. Stories like yours make me so angry at the lack of compassion for the person waiting for answers. Keep fighting, stay strong. Sending much love your way

I would get a second opinion from Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville! My surgeon, Dr. Wehle saved my life! I am 48 in pretty good health but had a 12cm. tumor 2 years ago. I had a radacal nephrectomy and have been fine ever since. I think the doctors at Mayo are young and in touch with new alternatives. There is immunotherapy that has had wonderful success. Find out about it! You sound like a fighter, I would insist on going to Jacksonville! You just might have a longer journey here than you think. Don't give up. My best wishes are with you and keep posting to this site, I would love to keep in touch with you.
