hematuria

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Sep 27, 2002 4:36 pm

I was diagnosed with RCC 16 months ago. I've had 3 cystoscopies during this time. CT scans have been fine. Yet I am still spilling occ trace blood and more often 1+. I seem to be the only one concerned of this. This had been going on for 7 years, last year was the first time anyone looked into it. Prior to nephrectomy hematuria had been 2+
Any comments or suggestion would be helpful
thanks

Such low level positives from a dipstick urine test are very common (and most often not due to anything worrisome), but it is very unusual to be due to a RCC.
Please follow your doctor’s advice.

Thanks very much for responding to my question. I realize that that 1+ and even "large amt" on dipsticks may not be that alarming. However, it's very frustrating to hear from different physicians don't worry about it.... to you need to get to the bottom of it for closure. I understand that there is beign hematuria... but for 7 years? I also have elevated guics and have been worked up to the hilt! I guess I just feel somethings not quite right here. So is your recommendation to not worry as my urologist suggests? or is your recommendation that of my other physicians (of which there are many spoons in the pot at this time.) that I should get to the bottom of this? And what could possibly be the cause... I'm not a jogger... no UTI's.....

have a great day!

A urologist is the appropriate specialist for advice in such scenarios.
