Re: Oh..Hodgkin’s Disease…Hi! My name is Lynnie. I will be 41 years old this Friday. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease when I was 17-years old and it had advanced to State 4B before they caught it. I was on MOPP chemotheray for 7-months. I have been in remission ever since (August will be 22-years!). I have two healthy kids (Travis, age 19, and Jessie, age 11) and life is good. I'm healthy and happy!
I have to admit, I'm afraid of the possiblility of treatment-induced leukemia due to the high dosage and length of treatment of MOPP chemotherapy. All I can do is continue living my life, loving my husband, children and family and praising my Lord Jesus Christ for the protection, guidance and blessings he has given me throughout my life. I encourage you to attend your local American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. It is so wonderful! Be sure to get there in time for the 1st lap. All the cancer survivors get a t-shirt and we (surviors) walk the 1st lap while our family and loved ones cheer for our success in beating the ugly beast called cancer. Be proud of who you are and what you have gone through. It IS a great accomplishment. We've won a tough fight. But we won! Cancer came to destroy, but it did not and will not destroy us! Sure, we have scars that cancer left behind, but more importantly, cancer gave us a story. A story of accomplishment and victory that we can share to encourage others. Hang in there girlfriend! Using your story to encourage others is one of the greatest gifts you can give. May God bless you and keep you well.
