Should this Patient Go For SurgeryA male patient aged around 55 years with symptoms and signs suggestive of Cholecystitis with abcess in liver bed was operated by a surgeon for Cholecystectomy
The specimen was sent for Histopathological examination and the findings were suggestive of "Poorly Differentiated Adenocarcinoma of Gall Bladder " An MRI was performed postoperatively and an hypoechoic stip of 4.9 cms by 8.3 cms was found in gall bladder fossa in liver bed The patient has been advised partial hepatectomy The queries are : 1] Should be patient go for Partial hepatectomy ? 2] If yes should preop chemotherapy be given ? 3] If yes what chemotherapy would be preferred ? 4] If no for surgery , should be patient be subjected to chemotherapy ? 5] If yes what chemotherapy ? 6] What is the prognosis in these type of cases ? 7] Would surgery or chemotherapy improve prognosis? 8] Any further investigation would you like to get done? 9] Any other procedure or treatment you can suggest ?
