I read you story and my husband had the same thing-double whamy..,,, He had 3 cancer operations in 9 months.
first one was colon, like yourself. He had a 4 cent. tumor. When the dr. was done with surgery he said he did an exploratory and everything looked great. Well low and behold when he went back to get his staples out he was told he had cancer. He went to a local ongoligist and we werent happy with the outcome. Went to another one and he did a ct scan on his liver and found 5 spots. He then told us we had 2 years of life but that is with the operation. The dr. sent us to a "god-sent" dr in NYC x Sloan Memorial... 2 months later he had 11 spots on his liver.80% of his liver was removed and had a infusium pump put in to deliver chemo to his liver to kill anything that might not have been taken out ... That was in April,2003-- he came home ,recovery for 6 week and then went back to work along with taking chemo. He never had an extremely bad time with his. He use to drive himself in and then go back to work. In August of same year he had a blockage in lower intestine. Back to hopsital and was there for 4 days. they all thought he had trouble with his chemo and the pump. Finally I made his dr. call dr. in Sloan. They rushed him down to Sloan and was operated in 2 hrs. He almost didnt make it. few more hrs... He was then in ICU for 14 days with demensia,,, that was a mess. He didnt know a thing. My hubby is very calm and dossale kind of guy. Never yell at anyone.. well he was the most ornery mouthy man i had ever laid eyes on!!!! 10 days with this and then 4 more days to learn how to walk and use a walker. We then came home and recovered from that. He still has the pump in and was keeping it filled with gylserol for the last 4years. His CEA is about 4 now and works everyday and fishes and hunts... along with that he is a full time taxidermist and loves every minute... He is now 57.
We went through hell and back and he is a Miracle that is for sure. His nurse in dr. office even call him that The Miracle Man,,,, and he sure is....
I just wanted to tell you my story and love to hear how wonderful people turn out and keep the faith to move on every day....we sure do
