Need advise concerning a good friend

Post a new topicby julyjeanie on Thu May 15, 2008 7:46 pm

Hello All,

I just found this website and I decided to join the forum to see if I could get any information on head and neck cancer. No..... I'm not the one who has been diagnosed with it. A very dear friend of mine was diagnosed with it a little over two years ago. He developed a lump on the side of his neck. He was a heavy smoker for most of his adult life.

He had surgery and it was successfully removed, but he did not go for the chemo or radiation that the doctor recommended. Since that time he has had a relapse of the cancer in the same area as before, and another surgery was done. Now he's told me that it has come back again......this is the third time in less than two years, and I'm worried for him. I've read about the (stages) of different types of cancer, but I have no idea what his is?

I just found this site and noticed your post is old so I hope I am not too late to advise.
I too was a smoker for many years, and came down with head and neck Carcinoma. It took
radiation, Chemo and surgury to remove it. Your friends mistake was to think surgery alone could get all the affected cells. If even one cell is left, the cancer can come back. The chemo and radiation was necessary. I will be willing to tell you more about it it....

Hi Jeanie,
I hope I'm not too late in answering your post. I just read it now after I too after several months have not checked my posts until today because someone wrote responded to my post. I too had head and neck surgery and I have recovered after a year since my surgery, chemo and radiation therapy. My doctors also told me that I would need the radiation and chemo. I was very scared and nervous about it, but when they told me that was the only way to kill the rest of the cancer cells, I decided that is what I would have them do to get rid of it. Well I don't regret it even though I suffered throughout the treatments, because today I am cancer free ever since l last took what they call a Petscan. That is a special X-ray machine that shows if there is any cancer cells in your body. That machine is what revealed that I had cancer last year in June. My advice to you would be if he is still surviving the cancer, is to take the treatments. That would be the only way to kill the cancer cells. If he doesn't take the treatments, the cancer cells will continue to spread throughout his body. I would also advise that he buy Aloe Vera the leaf or they also sell the liquid and he can drink that in any type of juice. This cures all kinds of illness. I drink it almost everyday in some shakes that I make. Feel free to ask me any other questions that you might have. I am a cancer survivor and I am willing to help anyone overcome their cancer as I know what it's like because I have been there.

Sincerely,
Carmen
