Head and Neck Cancer

Hi! I recently underwent surgery (maxillectomy) to remove a cancerous tumor located in the right hard palate. Because clean margins were not obtained, I was given 8 weeks of radiation with a weekly dose of cystplatin. Has anyone undergone something similar? I am especially interested in feedback regarding recovery after radiation.

I also had salivary gland cancer in the minor glands in my hard palette. I had a wide excision of the hard palette surgery to remove the tumor. Lucky for me, I had a completely negative margin, so I opted against having radition. Although, if it comes back, I'll probably have to go through it just like you did. My cancer was Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma. Not exactly the same as yours but most of the cancer websites seem to group all the salivary gland cancers together anyway.
