Lymphoma to Head and Neck Cancer?

Post a new topicby BlueKnight on Thu Sep 27, 2007 12:45 pm

Dear Friends,
8 years ago I was diagnosed with low-grade Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It was treated with chemotherapy and there was remission for several years. Then recently I have some imflamation in my throat. A biopsy was done on an enlarged lymph node in my neck - no lymphoma was present. My onclologist said that I will go back to Ear Nose and Throat so they can look at the area of inflamation and possibly do another biopsy of that area. He said that it is possible that I have head and neck cancer, which he said was a worse form of cancer. I don't know what to think of all this. Can anyone shed any light on this. My doctor just says he "doesn't know".
Thanks,
Eric

You might want to consider going for a second opinion

My Husband was diagnosed last March with Head & neck Cancer,he was given 3 months to live without chemo & radiation with treatment he may get 12months.
The treatment was to be very intense, and Carl would have many terrible side affects.
So he decided to do nothing and get more quality of life even if his time was shorter.
That was 6 months ago , he is still working, driving trucks, enjoying every day as it comes.
He has no pain at all and no affects of the cancer.
Yes we do know what is ahead of us,and it is not good but ,will continue to take each day as it comes enjoying that time together.
We do understand how you are afraid, but you do what is right for you dear .
What ever decission you make will be right for you.
Our thoughts are with you

My Husband was diagnosed with head & neck cancer S.C.C. in March this year.
We were told he had 3 months to live without treatment chemo & radiation,
and 10 months or more with treatment.
He chose to do nothing.
It is now 7 months on, he is in no pain at all ,his neck looks like he has mumps.
He has slight coughing when talking, otherwise he is fine.
He is 67 and still working as a truck driver.
We do not know what lies ahead or how long he will be this way.
But he is convinced he made the right decission for him .
I cannot tell you what to do , but think very carefully before you make your choice of what you feel is right for you.
Our local GP aggreed my husband made the right decission.
Take care we wish you Peace in your future
