Increase Awareness and Promote Early Detection

Post a new topicby edhickey on Sun Jan 18, 2009 12:15 am

This year nearly 40,000 new cases of head and neck cancer will be diagnosed in the US alone. Early detection is a crucial step for increasing chances of survival. When caught early, head and neck cancers are much more easily treatable.

Many doctors and hospitals offer free testing. Every year, the Yul Brynner Head and Neck Cancer Foundation hosts Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week (OHANCAW), a nationally-organized campaign to promote early detection. Over 150 sites across the country have already signed up to participate this year.

Contact your doctor and ask them to register to host a free testing site during this year's event, April 27 – May 3, 2009. For more information, visit www.ohancaw.com
