My dad is 56, diagnosed with stomach cancer a month ago. They were only supposed to remove a part of it but found a tumor the size of a fist and had to remove the whole stomach. He just got home from surgery and isn’t doing to great. Very tired, weak and in alot of pain. I don’t know what to do for him. What is the outcome look like? Some lymph nodes came back positive. We meet with the doctor next week. How is he supposed to have chemo when he is already sooo weak?

My sister was diagnosed last August. They took most of her stomach. It was in her nodes too. She had 24/7 chemo(5FU) and 5 days of radiation. Her second operation was an open and close. She then went to three chemo treatments at once. It was too much for her. She is currently getting 2 chemo. Two weeks on-one week off(One day a week) She has had several ups and downs. She walks her dog twice a day, except when she has been too ill . She shops and does errands, and drives heself to chemo. She is going to haveanother scan following a few more rounds of chemo. I am hoping for good news.
What she can and can't eat is weird because she can eat some things unexpectedly, while some you would expect to be okay don't settle. It is something each person has to work out. Ginger ale(flat) and gatorade have been good for her. Wishing you the best.
