diagnosed with endometrial cancerI was diagnosed with endometrial cancer one year ago. The previous fall I had had a thyroidectomy and found I had thyroid cancer, which was a big shock. I was treated with radioactive iodine, and just couldn’t seem to recover. I was always exhausted, although my TSH was at the level the doctor wished it to be. I had some vaginal bleeding after that surgery, so my doctor recommended seeing a gynocologist about it, but with all these other things going on it took until last May. She did...Read the full article
Re: diagnosed with endometrial cancerThank you for sharing your story. I'm 38 and was just diagnosed with stage 1 endometrial cancer. I have premature ovarian failure and have been menopausal for a year or so now. I had abnormal bleeding which resulted to a D&C and there they found small polyps and cancerous cells in the lining of my uterus. I need to have a hysterectomy and they will look at the uterus to determine if the cancer has gone into the walls of the uterus....I hope not. The doc says because it's stage 1 and well-differenciated, that is a good sign and caught early! Did you have a hysterectomy and if so, the cancer returned? I was just diagnosed today and it's been an emotional roller coaster of tears, tears, tears. It's very difficult, but the more I type and write about it and talk to family, the better I feel for some reason. If you have anymore advice from my story, I would love any input.
Thanks so much.
Re: diagnosed with endometrial cancerHi,
I'm 58 years old and was diagnosed with endometrial cancer (grade 1) a week before you (ultrasound, a D & C with samples for a biopsy - cancer was found). I had a hysterectomy May 25. Post-surgery wasn't as difficult as I'd anticipated ( except that I had some unusual complications ). The pathology report (after the hysterectomy) stated that no cancer was found. Once there was an actual diagnosis, I too was on a bit of a roller coaster - sometimes quite worried, other times relieved that it was endometrial cancer - which has a better prognosis than many other cancers. A bit of advice that may help: If the time waiting seems long, you may want to check with your GP. My first appointment with the gynocologist was scheduled a month after the ultrasound. My GP called his office and got it bumped up a couple of weeks. Once the positive diagnosis was made, my surgery was scheduled for two weeks later. If you have young children who need care, you may wish to get help for the first few weeks. I wish you the best!
