Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

My 40 year old female friend recently had a colonoscopy found cancerous tissue 12 inches into her colon. After looking at some info on r site I assumed rectum a is only 10 inches long so cancer must be in her colon. first prompted test discovery of a grapefruit sized tumor on her liver. diagnosed as secondary cancer colon a is primary. My question, after reviewing different stages/types of cancer, is stage is type of cancer? I am garing since a tumor is growing on her liver she is a Stage 4 affects or internal organs. Can please confirm? is prognosis type of cancer she has? doctor is planning to remove a section of her colon having anor specialist remove tumor on her liver. She also told she would require chemorapy.

Yes it indeed sounds as if she has stage 4 disease. However, given she has only one liver metastasis she has an approximately 25% chance of long term remission with the therapies outlined above. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
