Stage III -- 1/14 nodes positive

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Jun 12, 2003 6:13 pm

My mother was diagnosed with colon cancer in the ascending section. It was resected & staged as III with 1 of 14 nodes positive. She'll be 81 in August and has hx of MI & tPA-induced stroke 5 years ago. What is the usual protocol for chemo -- what is used, how long & how frequent? Her ankles are terribly swollen, her heart is enlarged (she presented with hgb=5.0), and her joints ache. What's this chemo going to do to her on top of her other complaints?
