colostomy

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Feb 02, 2002 9:23 pm

Q. I had a colostomy in 1992..do to car accident,I had cut going into my rectal
so the coloctomy was temporary until the cut healed. Will this mean have a greater chance to get colon cancer?
Q. And on Jan. 4th I had to have my gallbladder removed..do to gall stone & I was in so much pain.Could the surgeon at that time detect if I had a problem with my colon? He said that he went
through all the ducts to ck for stones.
My surgery is now four wks old .And sometime I get a pain in the middle of my stomach..just like the pain before I had my gallbladder removed.I had to go to the emergency rm last week. And the Dr. on call said that I had a upper bile/colic obstruction which can happened after that kind of surgery..And he gave me antibiotis to take. But off and on I
still have the same pain? Is that normal? And should I change my diet?

I know of no data which would suggest that you are at greater risk of
developing cancer. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
