Colon CancerI am writing this to ask advice about metastasized colon cancer. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer last year and had surgery to remove a 9 mm tumor. However since the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes, he went through six months of chemo (5FU and Leucovorin combo). He finished chemo this January when they dicovered the tumors had spread to his liver. They went in to surgically remove these tumors, but unfortunately were not able to do so because they found one of the tumors was lying flat on the duodenum. He has just started on CPT11 chemo this week. I am looking to see if any one could give any advice of what other treatments are out there....as far as any clinical trials and even non conventional treatments. I have been unable to find any clinical trails that will allow my father to participate because the tumor on the duodenum does not fit their criteria.
Thank you for your time
Re: Colon Cancer I would suggest that you speak with the cancer center at your local hospital or be referred to the nearest cancer treatment center for evaluation and consultation for possible entry onto clinical trials. Also you can go to the NCI (national cancer institute) site to look up clinical trials and you can also use the clinical trials finder located on oncologychannel. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
