37 years old with splenic flexure colon cancerDear Doctor,
I am a US trained neurologist, 37 years old. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Adeno CA colon involving the splenic flexure,it was surgically removed and was staged at Dukes B-2, all the lymph nodes and tumor margins were free of disease. Went through 6 months of chemotherapy with 5-FU and LV. I have been feeling fine so far. The follow up Contrast CT SCAN done recently showed .."probable" mets in the spleen and liver. Although Colonoscopy, abdominal ultrasound and all labs are normal so far. I am really concerned...as I am of young age with a two years old son. What should be my next step...should I just go for chemotherapy or more diagnostic tests. Please reply. Sincerely, Dr FH.
Re: 37 years old with splenic flexure colon cancerI would suggest going for a PET scan as soon as possible. If that is normal it is unlikely that you have disease. If it is abnormal you will know where the recurrence is and further therapeutic options can be formed. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
