Hi. My name is Debbie. I was diagnosed with State 3 colorectal cancer in 1997 at the age of 47. I had surgery in November of ‘97 followed by 6 mos of chemo I completed treatment in May of ‘98 and felt well enough to dance at my daughter’s wedding in August of ‘98. It took about a year to return to normal (whatever that is).
Since then I have been fantastic. Learning that you have cancer is a true life changing experience. You will never look at life the same way...Read the full article

Thank you for sharing. I'm 52 and just had surgery. Chemo to begin in 3 weeks and I'm scared to death. I don't know what to expect. I have two teenage daughters and a husband at home. I've been "supermom" until now. I need to know that I'm strong enough to get through these next few months. Again, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your message of hope. My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer at 47, underwent surgery and was told in Dec 08 that all was good, just to do yearly follow ups. On 3 Mar 09, at the age of 49 he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, which was found during an emergency surgery. He will begin Chemo treatments starting next week. We have vowed to fight this and do whatever is necessary, but the scary part is not knowing how the Chemo will affect him.
