Small Intestinal Cancer & ChemoMy boyfriend (43) recently underwent surgery to remove part of his small intestine and a resection. It appears that the cancer has not spread to any other organs, though I don't know about the lymph nodes. He will receive chemo as well. If he is Stage I or II, what is his survival outlook like? If the cancer did go to his lymph nodes, what are his chances? Thank you. Ellen
Re: Small Intestinal Cancer & ChemoPrognosis depends upon the type of cancer he had and the stage of the
cancer. Please write back with this information and we will be glad to give you an idea of what to expect. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck. Re: Re: Small Intestinal Cancer & ChemoIf he has carcinoid, go right away to carcinoid.org to learn about this rare and little known cancer that often starts in the small intestine. My mother has it. Her surgery was in 1996 and she is currently undergoing chemo. There are not many carcinoid specialists around. Maybe you're fortunate enough to live near one -- New York, New Orleans, California.
