pain medication

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Feb 08, 2002 8:08 pm

I have sent my question before and did not get a response. I will try once more. I have severe neuropathic head pain on and around the area where my brain tumor was removed. I have GBM. I have had poor pain management with doctors. Recently, I have been hopeful that I am getting somewhere with the new medications the doctor has me taking. Methadone 5 mg. But now after 3 weeks I am needing to take more and more of it to get relief. Also, I am taking 1 mg of Decadron for the pain. The doctors attempted to wean me but the pain was impossible to control at all without any steroid. I believe that with the right combination I can be helped. You must know that I tolerate little, small doses affect me greatly no matter what the medication. I have been tried on other medications but they all failed so far. The list wouold tire you. My question is what if the methadone is not strong enough, can't do a duregesic patch. Can't do anti-dipressants. Any suggestions?

The methadone will be strong enough as there is no ceiling limit and it can
be increased as needed to control the discomfort. Thank you for using
oncologychannel and good luck.
