Dual Cancers

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Nov 14, 2001 12:32 pm

My 59 y/o mom has just been dx with primary invasive bladder TCC. A 4 cm complex cystic mass was also appreciated on routine CT. Her CA-125 is elevated at 154 u/mg. Plan is for radical cystectomy. Her PE is without ascites or adenopathy. But, by age alone, the ovarian lesion is suspect for Ca, but we will not know the pathology or extent until surgery is completed. I don't hear or read much about synchronous primary GU and GYN cnacers. How often is this seen by oncology ? Specifically, primary ovarian and concurrent primary bladder ? Her urologist is talking about platnium based chemo for the bladder post op. I don't see much on this in the literature either for bladder ca ? Any thoughts ?
