Chemo for stomach cancer

A friend who recently was diagnosed with stomach cancer had taken a medication for several years which resulted in the stomach walls becoming quite thin. Specialists are suggesting chemo treatment. Question is: would the chemo destroy any of the stomach wall tissue and cause it to rupture?
