Could the symptoms just stop for years?Hello there! When I was 15 years old (30 years ago) I used to have these attacks that were exactly like the ones of carcinoid syndrome. I would experience these attacks 2 or 3 times per year and they would range from mild (just the flushing) to extreme (I collapsed in the bus one afternoon and had to be taken to ER). They went on and on until about 12 years ago when they suddenly stopped and I haven't had them since. At the time I had some tests done which were mostly neurological tests, my GP thought the attacks were kind of epilepsy attacks but the tests came out normal. One doctor mentioned it could be something called 'carcinoid syndrom' but I was pregnant at the time and couldn't run any of the tests. After that pregnancy, the attacks never came back. That doctor ordered a 5IHAA test which also then came out normal. Now I experience sporadic pain on my abdomen and have seen doctors for this who say I suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. A scan also showed a bit of an enlarged liver but all the liver lab tests were normal so the doctor didn't seem concerned. Has anyone had a similar experience with the attacks just disappearing after some time? Should I insist on my getting tested for carcinoid?
