Carcinoid on my pancreasI had surgery a year ago this past May. I had a tumor on the tail of my pancreas. I had two options on this on what to do. Both surgeons said we can wait and see if the tumor changes. I had blood work done all came back normal. I had an endoscopy done with taking four biopsies all came back normal. So both doctors felt it most likely was not cancer. But they both did say any thing on the pancreas needs to come out. So I had the surgery. They also removed my spleen.
When the tests came...Read the full article
Re: Carcinoid on my pancreasMy husband has carcinoid cancer. There is so much to learn. I would recommend that you visit www.carcinoid.org - this website has a wealth of information. I would also recommend that you see and oncologist that is a specialist in dealing with neuroendocrine tumors. - there are not alot of true specialist in dealing with this type of cancer. We go to Kenner LA for treatment for my husband. We live in the Houston area and the doctors here told him that he was inoperable and they recommended high dose radiation treatment. Both of us were not real comfortable with these recommendations and kept researching on the internet and found this group of doctors. He has since been through two major surgeries - first was a small bowel resection, removal of a tumor on left lobe of his liver and removal of gall bladder. Next he had an embolization of the right lobe of the liver in preparation for his next surgery. The next surgery was removal of the right lobe of his liver. He has since had several of his lab test come back normal for the first time in two years. He goes this week to have the octreoscan and ct scans repeated. The doctors feel that they were able to surgically remove all of the cancer. I pray all was successful. I cannot stress enough the need to see a specialist. These doctors are wonderful - however there are other doctors out there - I am not sure where you live but the website I gave you has a link to physicians that treat this type cancer. I wish you the best of luck.
Re: Carcinoid on my pancreasThank you for your message. I have found a great Doctor in the Columbus Ohio at the James Cancer Center, and Dr. Shah is a specialist in carcinoid. I had blood work, and a triple phase scan done, and so far everything is ok. I live day to day and thank the God above that he is watching over me. This is just a rare cancer, and as long as we have testing done that is good. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers, and hope he is doing fine. Thanks Pat
