core biopsyDear All,
I'm new to this forum and am writing for a small concern. I recent mammogram has shown microcalcifications. I'm 45 and this is the first mammogram in 4 years. These are not necessarily new, but the don't appear in the images that were taken last time (maybe the same angle wasn't taken 4 years ago). I have been advised to get a core biopsy in which 12 samples (1 1/2" by 1/16") will be removed. I'm wondering if so many need to be taken and if I have other choices. I don't have much to offer in the breast department and I know this will leave me lopsided. Perhaps another mammogram in 4-6 months to compare might be a viable option. Any opinions or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
