diagnosing brain cancer

Post a new topicby quinnolson007 on Tue Dec 02, 2008 4:26 pm

Is it possible to have brain cancer if there is no signs of a tumor on a MRI? If so what do we ask the doctors to check?
Thanks,

I don't think it is possible, because the cancer IS the tumor. (Although, a tumor is not necessarily cancer.) You can try asking for a CAT scan as well, or go to a different/better hospital, maybe one that specializes in brain tumors, to get a higher quality MRI and/or CAT scan. Anyway I would say that if the brain is scanned/xrayed with both an MRI and a CAT scan, and there is no sign of a tumor, then it would stand to reason that there is no cancer in the brain.
