Ureters tied into Colon after Bladder Removal

I had my bladder removed in Feb 09. I was supposed to get a Neobladder, but because of all the small tumors in my pelvic region, the surgeon was not able to reconstruct the bladder. The surgeon recommended to my family that tying the ureters into the colon for waste disposal was, in her opinion, the best option for Quality of Life issues. The other option was a collection bag for urine to be worn all the time. My family opted for tying the ureters to the colon. The surgeon stated after awhile, I would be able to control my discharges.
After 6 months now, I am incontinent at nighttime- I go through 2-3 diapers and underpads. I never have a solid bowel movement, it's always diarrhea because urine and bowel is always mixed. During the day, when I have to go, it's very painful on the way to the toilet. Immodium A-D and other diarrhea meds seemed not to help at all.
Has anybody else had this procedure done that is having success disposing of waste, and was there any other treatment that assisted in overcoming the diarrhea?
